How to install water pump?

In this article, we share a good technique about water pump installation. Of course, we must start with selecting suitable water pump for application. Do we need high water pressure? How often we use water? Does water pump have to be automatic? There are main factors we need to consider in choosing water pump as follow:

  1. Determine the need for use and usage patterns such as home use or mass use, often use or not often.
  2. Characteristics of installation site. It helps make the water pump works well and has longer service life. User must avoid installing the water pump outdoors or in areas where flooding is possible. The water pump should be placed at least 15 cm away from the wall in order to aid in heat dissipation.
  3. A good water pipe system can help save electricity. The installation location of the water pump should be as close to the water tank as possible for increased efficiency.
  4. Electrical installation is important. It must have a grounding system to prevent leakage currents and short circuit current. The wires and circuit breakers must be proper sized according to kilowatt of pump motor.

How to install water pump

  1. Install the water pump nearby with water tank. Water pump can have water supply enough to operate and if the water pump malfunctions, user can close the water tank valve immediately to prevent other damage.
  2. Make the wiring to the location where the water pump will be installed. Breaker must be in box and installed 1 meter above from the ground
  3. Suction pipe system operation (Suction)

3.1 If the water level to be sucked is lower than the water pump, water supply pipe must equip with waterproof check valve and put the valve 30-50 cm above from the bottom of the water tank. By doing this, it prevents the water pump from sucking up dirt or clog the check valve which will end up with air inside the water pipe.

3.2 If the water level to be sucked is higher than the water pump, water supply pipe must have shut-off valve near the water tank. The water pipe must be straight, The length is 6-8 times the size of the pipe.

We recommend that the water level to be suctioned is higher than the pump because it will keep the water supply to the pump at all times.

  1. Operation of the distribution pipe system (Discharge)

4.1 At the supply side of the pump body, put one ball valve to test the water system for pump service purpose.

4.2 Make a three-way connection between water tank to water pump and water tank to house pipe as the backup in case of power failure. This will make sure user has water from water tank even when pump does not work.
