In the production of package that contains liquid such as bottles, boxes, tubes, jars, leak test must be performed in QC step. Let’s imagine these packages are opened and closed all the time. If there is a leak or a gap between lids and container causing improper closure, liquid will be spilled all over and damage the product. Leak test requires vacuum pump.
Leak Test will be processed with packaging leak tester. This Leak tester composes of cabinet and vacuum pump. The cabinet used for testing is made of durable stainless steel and tightly sealed at the front. There will be another layer of silicone seal to prevent air leakage from the outside into the interior. This cabinet connects to a vacuum pump that pull out air from the cabinet.
How to perform leak test for water bottle?
- Bring the sample into the cabinet, then lock the front door of cabinet tightly.
- Set the vacuum value (Vac) to set point we need on the control panel. Some tester can memorize 2 or more vacuum power set point. This will be convenience when user want to test 2 products or one product but 2 levels test.
- While tester is working, if water does not leak that means the package is sealed and considered as pass the test.
- The vacuum pump will stop when tester reaches the set point.
- All testers must have “EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON”. Once this button is pushed, vacuum pump stops immediately. However, the cabinet door cannot be opened immediately due to vacuum power in the cabinet. Some testers come with relief valve button allowing air outside goes into cabinet to make cabinet neutral. Otherwise, user have to wait until vacuum power inside cabinet drop down until neutral. Then cabinet door can be opened.
In conclusion, the benefit of leak test by using vacuum pump is to recheck package such as bottles, boxes, tubes, jars, etc. to ensure packaging have good quality before distributes to the market
