4. Hoist: The hoist is the lifting mechanism that attaches to the load and raises or lowers it. It typically consists of a motor, drum or pulley system, and a hook or lifting attachment. The hoist is suspended from the trolley and can move horizontally along the bridge.

5. Trolley: The trolley is a mechanism that moves horizontally along the bridge. It carries the hoist and allows it to position the load precisely. Trolleys can be manual or powered, depending on the crane’s design.

6. Controls: Overhead cranes are controlled by an operator using a control pendant or a cabin-mounted control panel. Modern cranes may also have automated controls for precise load positioning and safety features

7. Electrical System: The electrical system includes components like motors, cables, and wiring that power the crane’s movement and control systems. Safety features such as limit switches and emergency stop buttons are also part of the electrical system.

8. Safety Devices: Overhead cranes are equipped with various safety devices, including limit switches to prevent over-travel, overload protection systems, anti-collision devices, and emergency braking systems.

9. Load Block: The load block is the assembly attached to the hook that holds and carries the load. It may include a hook or other lifting attachments specific to the type of load being handled.

10. Brakes: Brakes are used to stop the movement of the crane and hold it securely in position when not in use. They are typically installed on the bridge and trolley wheels and may be mechanical or electromagnetic.

11. Structural Framework: The structural framework of the building or support structure is crucial to the crane’s stability and safety. It must be designed to handle the loads and forces imposed by the crane.

12. Operator Cabin (Optional): Some overhead cranes are equipped with an operator cabin that allows the operator to control the crane from a comfortable and safe enclosed environment.

13. Maintenance and Inspection Access: Cranes are designed with features that facilitate inspection and maintenance, including walkways, ladders, and access points for technicians to check and service various components.
