Nowadays, water pumps come in many sizes and various types based on market demand. A water pump is a device to delivers water from one place to another or to increase the pressure of the water. 

Why water pump is so important!

Water is supplied through main or city pipe line for every house and every factory. But if there are no water pump, result in water usage is not fully functional because of lack of water pressure or water volume.

Before getting into selecting pump, we must know purpose of using. Roughly, we separate into 2 purposes.

Pump for home use

Before we choose the size or type of water pump, we should know the basic information of our home before. The information we need to know is:

            –  Number of floors in the house and where water is used the most such as the top-floor shower

            –  Total number of bathrooms and number of faucets used

            –  How many spots will use water at the same time?

            – Where is pump installed?

After we already know the basics information, we can roughly convert data into water volume and water pressure needed. Then, we will consider type of water pump suitable for our house.

Home use pump must be automatic type. There are 3 types which most popular to use: Automatic pump with pressure tank, automatic constant pressure pump and automatic constant pressure pump inverter. 

In addition to purchase water pumps. There are other things you should know:

  • Amount of water needed
  • Number of horsepower
  • Diameter of the suction and discharge pipe
  • Voltage of power supply available
  • Water pressure (or distance of water delivery)

Factory water pump

Choosing pump for factory must consider more thoroughly than home-use because factory-use engages in wider area, larger sizes, huge water volume and higher water pressure. Maintenance can be more difficult and more expensive. Therefore, it must be considered in more detail for efficiency.

The principle of choosing consider as following as:

1.The type of liquid to be pumped

In factories, not only water will be pumped but also mixed with different types of liquids as well, so we have to consider what kind of liquid resistance there are, how much temperature it can withstand and how resistant it is to viscosity.

2.Flow rate needed (Water Volume)

Each factory has its own requirement of usage. Selecting over- or under-requirement pump will be either waste electricity or not enough capacity.

3.High transmission rate of water (Water Pressure)

Water pressure, AKA “Head value”, is another value that we need to know to calculate how much of water pressure needed for choosing the right pump.
